We are a team of specialists and experts who have been dealing with propaganda and Russia for years. We operate on a non-profit basis. Most of our authors are professional journalists associated with various titles, as well as academic and university workers.
PostPravda – Manifesto
We live in a world that has been changed by an informational war. It is difficult for us to understand the true meaning when the information we receive is half-truths. Thanks to this, we are able to question established arguments and theories while remembering the fundamental values shared by all civilizations, which are equally vulnerable to manipulation, disinformation, unreliability, and unfair narratives.
If we do not oppose this war on information, we risk losing our freedoms of though, speech, and expression, as well as journalistic independence. We do not want to wake up in a world where the human individual will be zero and nonsense – as used to say USSR propaganda.
We have no doubts that Putin’s Russia is the aggressor in this disinformation war. That is why today/now we are discussing/talking about not only military operations but first and foremost about this information clash, i.e “soft power”. The outcome of this battle will determine the future of the next generations, freedom of belief, and the world that we believe in.
We do not have the license to the single, only truth. We are fully aware that understanding the world and discussing it requires constant effort, not only for those creating content/who create content but also for those who receive it recipients.
We know little about the world around us.
We are often closed off in our Internet algorithm bubbles or our environmental circles, where we often stay purely out of comfort. There are entire systems of power, authoritarian, or, with time, totalitarian, that deliberately lock their citizens into thought prisons. In such places, people do not have the possibility of safely leaving the “bubbles” created for them by these authoritarian or totalitarian systems.
This is why we are trying to show the way out, the emergency exit. We understand the mechanisms of propaganda and how to decipher them. However, every person needs to do this for themselves. We want to help you along this road.
PostPravda mission:
- tracking the propaganda narratives,
- exposing the creators and actors of propaganda,
- documenting harm that occurs due to propaganda.
We operate in the following ways: collecting examples of half-truths and fake news, tracking and describing trolling, exposing manipulation, exposing, and ridiculing propaganda, and deciphering between the lines of propaganda. We are undertaking a difficult and dangerous journey to the areas created by propaganda commanders, finding ourselves far on the other side of the new Iron Curtain.
We want to reveal and write about the victims of this war. We seek to bring to light these topics, as well as the people and institutions who wish to hide their participation in bringing harm to not only individual people, but to entire societies.
We will not allow those who legitimize authoritarianism and totalitarianism to be forgotten. They misinform and persecute people of the media and people of culture. We give voice to those who pay the highest price for their independence, or simply human decency.
Today, we focus on Post-Soviet regions. We know, however, that we will reach further. Our members come from different countries and have different backgrounds and experiences. Our Think Tank PostPravda.Info is made up of propaganda researchers, analysts, and performer-documentarists, but primarily of war and investigative journalists.
We believe in democracy, pluralism, and an independent media. We are convinced that all this is not just a fairy tale for adults. We will not impose new values or dictate a different reality to anyone. But we also know that we must fight disinformation together. We are fully aware that implementing this program will not be an easy task.
Welcome to PostPravda.
