In Russia, they started giving life sentences to the Azov captivity fighters. Russian captivity: a sister of an Azov fighter told about inhumane conditions in Russian prisons.

Olena is a sister of a captured soldier from the Azov Brigade. A month ago, her brother was sentenced to life imprisonment in Russia. He was implicated in the killing of civilians in Mariupol. Olena is trying to free her brother from prison and is gathering information about the conditions of his confinement there. More than 900 Azov fighters are still in captivity. Most of them are from the “Azov” brigade.

In 2023, there was another extremely large-scale prisoner exchange involving soldiers from Mariupol. In May, Ukraine returned one soldier from “Azovstal.”
