In Russia, the murderers of Motorola and Zakharchenko were convicted

In Russia, the murderers of Alexander Zakharchenko and Arsen Pavlov, known as Motorola, were convicted. This was reported by the press services of the pro-Russian, separatist so-called Donetsk People’s Republic. Ukrainian SBU agents are said to be responsible for both attacks. They received sentences ranging from life imprisonment to 12 years.

Motorola and Zakharchenko died in the attacks

According to press releases, the court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced the defendants in the case of the assassination of the self-proclaimed head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, and the murder of Arsen Pavlov Motorola, to life imprisonment and imprisonment.

Alexander Pogorelov was sentenced by a pro-Russian and separatist court to life imprisonment, Alexander Tymoshenko – to 12 years in prison, Artem Yen – to 17 years, and Vasily Churilov was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Investigators considered them to be members of a network of agents of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). They were supposed to have been working in Donetsk since the beginning of the Russian occupation in 2014. Ukrainian agents were to learn the locations of checkpoints, the deployment of military equipment, collect data on shooting positions, and later observe Motorola and Zakharchenko.

Who were Motorola and Zakharchenko?

Russian but born in Ukraine Alexander Zakharchenko was the first illegally elected president of the so-called DRL in 2014–2018. He died on August 31, 2018 as a result of an explosion in a cafe in Donetsk.

Arsen Pavlov alias At the very beginning of the separatist war in Donbas, Motorola headed the Sparta unit. As a Russian mercenary and previously a gas station employee, he took part in the battles for Sloviansk, Ilovaisk, and the airport in Donetsk. He was guilty of war crimes, e.g. shooting Ukrainian prisoners of war in the so-called Ilovaisk Basin and after Kiev lost the battle for the Donetsk airport.

Motorola died on October 16, 2016, as a result of an explosion at the entrance to his house in Donetsk.
